“The Good Samaritans of St. George” – Food Drive

“The Good Samaritans of St. George” – Food Drive

Dear Sunday School Parents,

As previously discussed with your kids, the Church is laying the foundation for re-energizing the spirit of service with the kids (grades 1-12), and is creating a new community service called the “The Good Samaritans of St. George”. For our first project, we will be conducting a food drive and delivering the food to a local food bank.

We have asked the kids to do the following:
1. Read the story of The Good Samaritan, on their own or with you
2. Clean up the pantry and be prepared to bring those items when asked

Here is the schedule of events for our first project.

On Saturday February 2nd, we will have permission slips at church for you to sign if you would like your child / children to participate.

If you would like to be a chaperone for either date please let us know as we would greatly appreciate your assistance!

On Saturday February 9th, from 1:30-pm to 3:30pm we will be going out into the neighborhoods near the church to distribute food collection fliers.

Please insure that kids are dressed for the weather.  We will be distributing fliers rain or shine.

Please bring any plastic grocery bags that you would like to donate for people to fill with food.

Please work with your kids to “clean the pantry” at home and donate non-perishables to the food drive

On Saturday February 16th,  from 1:30-4pm we will go back to the neighborhoods to collect  the food and then take it to the food bank.

Please insure that kids are dressed for the weather.  We will be collecting the food rain or shine.

Please bring any plastic grocery bags that you would like to donate for people to fill with food.
For those of you that have artists in the family,  we would like to create a logo that will be associated with our community service projects.  Please encourage your kids to create one and submit it to their teacher.  From there we will vote on a logo and use it for all future communications.

Thanks in advance for your help in making this project a success!

God Bless,

Your kids servants

CopticWorld

BishopDavid has sent a message to members with the following characteristics:

Membership type: Member, Servant, Priest, Church representative, Bishop
Location: All Countries

In the letter attached, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II has officially authorized CopticWorld to build features that will connect him to the congregation in unprecedented ways. In the next six months we will roll out the following features:

A global platform for the clergy to keep record of the following events in their churches and print out the appropriate certificates for:

Baptisms
Deacon ordinations
Graduations
Weddings
Priest ordinations
Funerals

Priests will have access to their church’s records. Bishops will have access to these records for their diocese. The Papal Office will have access to these records for the whole world.

When a priest records any of these events in his church, a congratulatory card (or a letter of condolence in the case of a funeral) signed by His Holiness will be automatically generated via the Papal account on CopticWorld (username: CopticPope) and sent to the per sonal emails of the people involved. In addition, Papal cards will also be sent out for the occasions of silver and golden jubilees. His Holiness wishes to be directly involved in the lives of his children all over the world and CopticWorld is proud to facilitate this.

We will also be building a global platform for prayer requests. This will allow users to send a prayer request to any church in the world and the priest of that church will be able to print out the prayer request and place it on the altar. Users will also be able to send a prayer request to any priest, bishop or the pope. If a prayer request is sent to the His Holiness for health reasons on CopticWorld, a signed card wishing good health and recovery will be sent to the user directly from His Holiness on CopticWorld.

Please encourage all your family and friends to join to take advantage of this future blessing from His Holiness by registering at:
https://www.copticworld.org/account/si gnup/

Please consider a recurring donation to help us to continue to bring you these innovative features at:
