A monthly deacon schedule will be communicated at least 1 week before the beginning of the month. The schedule will contain assignments of different roles that will rotate among all deacons.
Deacons that are assigned a role have up to the end of the day on the Thursday before the service date to confirm or cancel. A deacon is confirmed by default unless he explicitly communicated his cancelation to the schedule organizer. Cancelations done before the end of the day on Thursday will be replaced by the schedule organizer. Any cancelations after then will be considered a “No Show”.
Last Minute Changes
We understand that things could come up last minute. It is your responsibility to find a replacement for yourself if something came up after the cancelation deadline. It is also your responsibility to make sure that your replacement calls the schedule organizer to confirm their assignment. Once your replacement calls the schedule organizer to confirm their assignment, then your replacement is responsible to serve in your place, and you are cleared of your responsibility.
If a deacon was assigned a role and didn’t show up on the service date, or came too late to serve at his assigned role, this will be considered a “No Show.”
- On the first “No Show”, the deacon will get a phone call from the schedule organizer to remind him of his responsibility of the diaconate service.
- On the second consecutive “No Show”, the deacon will get a phone call from the head deacon.
- On the third consecutive “No Show”, the deacon will get a visit from the priest of the Church.
